Why I think the Trinity doctrine is an irrelevant talking point with JWs, and what I believe could be a better approach.
by Island Man inthere are no authentic/uncontested bible verses that prove a trinity.
the trinity doctrine is arrived at by inferences - not unlike the way that jws arrive at the doctrine that jesus is michael the archangel.
the jw proof texts against the trinity are at least as strong, if not stronger than, trinity proof texts.

I've never believed in a Trinity as defined by the Roman Church. I was never a Catholic, never indoctrinated by any other "religion" prior to my affiliation with the Jws, but had read much of The Word in my early teens and came to an understanding of The Almighty and His son The Firstborn of Creation.
The Word isn't clear on how many other sons were created prior to the physical creation but to me it seems reasonable that many may have been.
We on Earth, and any other physical beings which may exist, have life because The Firstborn Son wanted us. The Firstborn Son therefore took ownership over all that he and his Father together brought into existence. All that has happened in the history of Earth and man was not a surprise to The Almighty One or His Firstborn Son since they knew how things would transpire. The Firstborn Son had agreed from the very beginning to assume human form as The Son of Man in order to accomplish his work as The Lamb of God. Following successful completion of his human life, a necessary experience, he also experienced necessarily a very painful death. Then a resurrection to increased position and glory in the Heavenly Realm because he had proven his obedience and faithfulness.
While we have some idea of the extent of the Heavenly Family, The Word doesn't reveal in complete detail its fullness. At some future time we will come to know.
It's a marvelous story which, from our human perspective, is really just beginning. What is yet to come is going to be absolutely amazing. Well, once some ugliness brought to us by the "bad guys" has come to pass.
The Jw teachings in the 50s were pretty much in agreement with what I'd already come to understand from my study of The Word. Other aspects of their doctrine, dogma and practice, however, were a turn-off. While they have some few things "right" they have, to their shame, a lotta things "wrong."
I believe that Lord Messiah has been resurrected to a life quite similar to his Father and that he does have "deity." Is he equal to his Father? No, he tells us that he is less than his Father, but he could be thought of as our God; In addition to the Almighty One his Father. The Son of God has the authority to act on behalf of his Father since they are "one" in all things.
Do many here believe the Trinity Doctrine?

Quote from Still in:
Along with her rants she'll throw in enough Jehovah talk to make it seem like she is on the high road, but the fact is that she doesn't act like it. No self control, etc.
Might it be the Imperfect Men (and Women) Card which they believe entitles them to a "pass?"
Years ago I noticed that many of the Older witnesses were gentle folk and very kind. It was the younger folk that were not so well behaved and exhibited an almost MPD persona; one personality for the hall and the "brothers" ; the other for everywhere else.
Yep, Scratch Me 1010 described it well above.

The Watchtower's Real Crisis
by JeffT inwhen discussing the watchtowers financial problems, i've generally been of the opinion that they probably are not in a real financial crisis.
i've come to believe that money may be something of an issue, but its wrapped up in a much larger problem.
this came to me this morning when reading about the annual meeting.. i think the society's leadership is just plain out of ideas.

Quote from Steve 2:
...cults survive because people need them. A lot of what jw org is doing is streamlining and cost-cutting. It will survive - just not as the powerhouse of growth it once was in the west.
Aye, 'tis true. Cults survive if they are able to adapt with cunning cleverness. Although what seems to be increased militancy in enforcement of their "closed" information control over the membership and persistent shunning to destroy families may be the wrong "model" to pursue. In some ways it seems that WTBorg Cult Inc. is emulating the proven "love of money" techniques of the very successful televangelists of Christendom.
What is the WTBorg Cult Inc. in the process of morphing into?
Transmogrification?

A Korean Tragedy
by fulltimestudent inthe modern history is full of deep, dark tragedies.
and, my intention, as i sat down to write of those tragedies for a fb page i look after for a macquarie university student society, was to tell the story of these very dark contemporary events.
but east asia history is complex and i think its helpful to try to have an overview of that history to understand what has happened in the recent past.

Aye, the Koreans were sold out then and remain so today. So long as the Puppet Government of South Korea toes the line imposed by America it will be permitted a level of prosperity and freedom. But should it defy support of American Hegemonic Ambitions, chaos will return. The People of all of Korea have suffered perhaps more than any others on Planet Earth.

Quote from _Morpheus:
i think more laws making murder illegal. The current ones dont work. Let make more.
The Laws presently in place are adequate although the "let's make more" refrain is invariably resorted to by the lawmakers. Always sure to increase surveillance and control while diminishing more and more freedoms.
The real "problem" is that certain personalities and agencies are literally Above the Laws. They are able to act with impunity, with arrogance and without fear. Their mission is to make to impossible possible; to create an atmosphere of intense fear for life and safety.
Those who study The Word with sincerity are aware that this state of affairs was the subject of much prophecy. The Time has arrived.

Always love listening to a Trae Crowder rant. And he’s right on topic as far as I’m concerned...

Agreed. Trae is a thinkin' man. Reminds me of one of my good Southern shipmates from Alabama. Their uncommonly common sense is quite remarkable.

Cofty,
I was inside the Beast at a "relatively" low level. I had no desire to seek entrance into the occult higher levels. Some of what I have seen and experienced is, unfortunately, covered by "oath" which remains in effect for the duration of my life. I am not at liberty to provide specifics but I am able to confirm that the "structure" exists with many levels of incredibly complex layers of concealment. It is real.
Rest assured that in due time the Forces of Good will make all known. It has already begun.

Quote from Summer Angel:
Initially they were pretty awful lots of comments etc like ' we will be in paradise without you but you will be erased from our memory" my mum can be quite spiteful at times.
Good point. All Jws seem to buy into this very un-Biblical belief. If only they could read The Word with a clear mind apart from all of the Cult Indoctrination.
They (All Jws everywhere) will be very surprised to see EVERYBODY there when it is done. Not a single soul will be lost or left out. Oddly, most of Christendom has difficulty with this Truth.
